Before we turn to the topic “Claims and allegations about Islam”, one point has to be clarified first:
Why is there a religion to follow at all? And how many religions did God (Allah) send us?
After a mother gives birth to her child, she teaches it many things so that it can lead a good and successful life. For example: How should one behave? How can one be successful? How does one build a character with good morals? How can one focus on one’s strengths and overcome one’s weaknesses? And so on.
In a similar way, God (Allah) created us and sent us to this earth. Had He simply left us without any guidance, we would be lost and confused in this world.
But because God (Allah) is very merciful towards mankind, He prescribed religion for it. Since Allah loves us and wants us to have a happy life both on earth and in Paradise, He sent us a guide (the Quran, and before it the other holy books). He says in the Quran (Surah Al-An’am, verse 38): “We have neglected nothing in the Book.”
Allah, who created the entire universe, describes in the Quran how we should live in order to be happy, successful and content.
Allah says in the Quran (Surah Ash-Shura, verse 13): “He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah, and what He enjoined upon Abraham, Moses and Jesus: Uphold the religion (its rules) and do not become divided in it (into groups).”
Christians, Jews, the jinn and all human beings will be held accountable for one single religion – the religion followed by the messengers of God, the Almighty, since the time of Adam, through Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, up to Muhammad.
All prophets came with one single religion, namely the religion of monotheism: submitting to the commandments of Almighty God and avoiding what He has forbidden.
In addition, there is the rational evidence that no reasonable person can contradict: God is the Almighty and the only One distinguished by perfection. He is free of any deficiency, and His servants can and will be held accountable for one religion only.
He is the One who sent His messengers to call people to His path. None of His creatures is related to Him or favoured; only our deeds count. Whoever obeys Him is saved; whoever does not obey Him will deeply regret it on the Day of Resurrection.
The Prophet Muhammad said: “The prophets are brothers. Their mothers are different, but their religion is one.” The Quran also mentions in several places that God (Allah) sent only one religion through all His prophets. Let us therefore note that the different religions and doctrines were invented by people and do not come from the Creator.
In other words: everything the prophets – from Adam to Muhammad, the last messenger of God – have preached and passed on to mankind as a message is one single religion.
The Prophet Muhammad said: “I and the prophets before me are like a man who built a house and made it beautiful and complete – except for the place of one single brick in a corner. People walked around the house, admired it and said: ‘Why has this brick not been put in place?’ I am that brick, and I am the Seal of the Prophets.”
The Gospel of Matthew (21:42–43) says: “Jesus said: Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone? … The kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.”
This matches the words of the Prophet Muhammad exactly. It shows that he is the foundation stone and cornerstone through which the building becomes complete, and without which its beauty is not perfected.
Our Creator (Allah) sent us the prophets as lights, so that they lead us out of darkness into light and show us the way to Paradise.
